Create an archive
Pack a selection of files into ZIP, 7Z or a compressed TAR. Use Create an archive locally with practical instructions, output settings and format limits.
Create an archive
Pack selected files into ZIP, 7Z, TAR or a supported compressed TAR without changing their contents. Use a single archive to organize a short handoff or combine related assets for download. Each source needs a unique basename, and the chosen format should be one that the receiving application can unpack.
- Bundle project deliverables in a ZIP
- Create a compressed TAR of selected files
- Package related images and documents together
How to use Create an archive
Add the files to package
Select the files that belong in the archive, up to the upload-list limit. Give them unique filenames before uploading, because duplicate basenames cannot coexist in this package.
Choose the archive format
Select ZIP, 7Z, TAR, TAR.GZ, TAR.BZ2 or TAR.XZ. Prefer a format the recipient already supports rather than choosing an extension solely for potential compression.
Create the package
Run Create result to write the selected files into the chosen container. The operation packages bytes rather than converting the individual documents or images inside the archive.
Inspect the finished archive
Download and open the result with a compatible archiver. Check that the expected filenames are present and that their contents open correctly before using the package for a handoff.
Understand the settings
- Archive format
- Choose archive format according to the result you need. Available choices: ZIP; 7Z; TAR; TAR.GZ; TAR.BZ2; TAR.XZ. The initial selection is ZIP.
A compact project handoff
A handoff includes report.pdf, data.csv and preview.png. Give each a unique name, upload them and choose ZIP. Open the downloaded archive to verify all three files are present, then inspect the documents before using the package in the delivery process.
Check your result
Choose a file or enter text where available. Review the settings, create your result and download the new copy. Processing stays on this computer. Input and expansion limits apply; originals are never overwritten. Open the saved output in the app or workflow where you plan to use it. Check one representative result before repeating the same settings with more files. The original files stay unchanged.
What to know before you start
- Browser archive output supports ZIP, TAR and TAR.GZ.
- Files are processed on this device. Browser memory and engine-specific limits apply. Save results before reloading.
- Processing stays on this computer. Input and expansion limits apply; originals are never overwritten.
- Upload up to 20 files, at least 1 with a combined size of at most 100 MB. The completed output must fit within 200 MB.
- Files are checked by the local engine; a matching filename alone is not proof of valid contents.
- Selections and completed jobs stay available while you navigate inside this tab. Use My files to revisit results. Reloading or closing the tab clears the workspace; download results you want to keep first.
Create an archive: common questions
Can two uploaded files share the same name?
No. Files are packaged using their basenames, and duplicate names are rejected to prevent one input from replacing another. Rename duplicate sources meaningfully before selecting them, particularly when they originated in different folders.
Does packaging convert the enclosed files?
No. The archive contains the uploaded file bytes. A PDF remains a PDF and a photo remains its original image format, so perform any document conversion or image resizing before adding the prepared outputs to the archive.
Can this create encrypted archives?
The available controls choose the archive format and do not include password encryption. Use this tool for an ordinary package, and follow a suitable separate workflow if your intended archive requires a password feature.
Is RAR available as an output?
No. Supported creation outputs are ZIP, 7Z, TAR and the listed compressed TAR variants. The archive browser can inspect and unpack RAR, but that extraction support does not include creating a new RAR file.
Does Create an archive upload files to another service?
Processing runs in this browser, on your device. Files and pasted input are not uploaded to a conversion server. The website and required engine assets must load first; large operations depend on available device memory.
Can I continue after changing pages?
Selections and completed jobs stay available while you navigate inside this tab. Use My files to revisit results. Reloading or closing the tab clears the workspace; download results you want to keep first.
