HEIC / HEIF converter
Open iPhone photos in the image format your next app accepts. Use HEIC / HEIF converter locally with practical instructions, output settings and format limits.
HEIC / HEIF converter
Make a still HEIC or HEIF photo usable in an application that expects JPG, PNG or WebP. The converter decodes the photo and writes a new image file, making it useful for attachments, publishing and everyday editing. Choose the output according to compatibility, transparency and size needs.
- Attach a phone photo to a form
- Open a HEIF photo in an older editor
- Prepare a WebP copy for a website
How to use HEIC / HEIF converter
Add the phone photo
Choose one HEIC or HEIF still image. If the original contains several frames, export a single photograph first rather than expecting a sequence conversion.
Choose the image format
Select JPG for broad compatibility, PNG for a lossless raster copy or WebP for a modern web image. The output choice changes the encoding.
Convert the photograph
Run Create output and let the engine decode the HEIC or HEIF content. A renamed file with unrelated contents will not be accepted.
Check the new copy
Download the converted image and open it in the application you intend to use. Check orientation, colour and any fine photographic detail before publishing.
Understand the settings
- Output format
- Choose output format according to the result you need. Available choices: PNG; JPG; WEBP. The initial selection is PNG.
A phone photo for a document
A colleague receives a HEIC photograph that their document editor cannot insert. Select JPG and convert the still photo. The new JPG can be inserted as a normal image; review its orientation and crop in the document afterward.
Check your result
Upload a supported file, adjust the settings and create the output. Still images only; maximum 40 million decoded pixels. Open the saved output in the app or workflow where you plan to use it. Check one representative result before repeating the same settings with more files. The original files stay unchanged.
What to know before you start
- Files are processed on this device. Browser memory and engine-specific limits apply. Save results before reloading.
- Still images only; maximum 40 million decoded pixels.
- Upload one file with a combined size of at most 100 MB. The completed output must fit within 200 MB.
- Files are checked by the local engine; a matching filename alone is not proof of valid contents.
- Selections and completed jobs stay available while you navigate inside this tab. Use My files to revisit results. Reloading or closing the tab clears the workspace; download results you want to keep first.
HEIC / HEIF converter: common questions
Does this convert Live Photo video?
This converter processes a still HEIC or HEIF image. It does not export the moving portion of a Live Photo or combine paired photo and video files. Choose a still photo export when preparing the input.
Which output should I choose?
JPG is widely usable for photographs, PNG avoids additional lossy image encoding, and WebP suits applications that support that format. The best choice depends on the destination application rather than the original filename alone.
Can I convert an image sequence?
No. Animated and multipage inputs are rejected by these still-image tools. Export the specific frame you need from the source application, then convert that still image within the decoded pixel limit.
Will every camera variant work?
The file must be decodable as HEIC or HEIF and remain within the still-image limits. A valid extension alone does not ensure support for every variant; an unsupported file produces an explicit conversion error.
Does HEIC / HEIF converter upload files to another service?
Processing runs in this browser, on your device. Files and pasted input are not uploaded to a conversion server. The website and required engine assets must load first; large operations depend on available device memory.
Can I continue after changing pages?
Selections and completed jobs stay available while you navigate inside this tab. Use My files to revisit results. Reloading or closing the tab clears the workspace; download results you want to keep first.
