Resize image
Set the exact width and height you need. Use Resize image locally with practical instructions, output settings and format limits.
Resize image
Create an image at the pixel dimensions needed by a website, presentation or application. Choose how the source fits the new rectangle: preserve it with padding, crop to fill, stretch, or fit inside. Export a new JPG, PNG or WebP and inspect the resulting dimensions.
- Prepare a 1200 by 800 product image
- Fit a logo into a square canvas
- Resize a photograph for a presentation
How to use Resize image
Add a still image
Choose one supported still image and check its orientation. Starting with a source larger than the requested result usually preserves more visible detail.
Enter dimensions and fit
Set width and height in pixels, then choose the fit behaviour. Use padding to keep every edge or cropping to fill the canvas completely.
Choose output and background
Select JPG, PNG or WebP and the available padding background. Remember that JPG turns transparent areas white when the new image is encoded.
Save and inspect
Run the resize, download the new file and check its pixel dimensions. Inspect the crop or padding to confirm the subject is framed correctly.
Understand the settings
- Width (px)
- Width (px) accepts values from 1 to 8192, using whole numbers. The initial value is 1200. Change it for a specific output requirement, then check the result before processing more files.
- Height (px)
- Height (px) accepts values from 1 to 8192, using whole numbers. The initial value is 800. Change it for a specific output requirement, then check the result before processing more files.
- How the image fits
- Choose how the image fits according to the result you need. Available choices: Fit and pad; Fill and crop; Stretch; Fit inside. The initial selection is Fit and pad.
- Padding background
- Choose padding background according to the result you need. Available choices: White; Transparent. The initial selection is White.
- Output format
- Choose output format according to the result you need. Available choices: JPG; PNG; WebP. The initial selection is PNG.
A consistent product card
A landscape product photo must occupy a 1200 by 800 card. Enter those dimensions and use fit with padding to retain the whole product. Choose a white background and JPG, then check the downloaded image for unexpected margins.
Check your result
Enter dimensions in pixels. Fit and pad keeps the full image; fill and crop trims the edges to fill the same dimensions. Upscaling adds pixels; it does not recover detail that was missing from the original. Open the saved output in the app or workflow where you plan to use it. Check one representative result before repeating the same settings with more files. The original files stay unchanged.
What to know before you start
- Upscaling adds pixels; it does not recover detail that was missing from the original.
- Upload one file with a combined size of at most 100 MB. The completed output must fit within 200 MB.
- Files are checked by the local engine; a matching filename alone is not proof of valid contents.
- Jobs run one at a time with a 180-second deadline. Temporary files expire after approximately 30 minutes; download them before clearing or restarting the app.
Resize image: common questions
Which fit keeps the whole image?
Fit with padding preserves the complete image within the requested rectangle, adding background where the proportions differ. Fit inside also preserves proportions but can produce dimensions smaller than one of the requested sides.
What does fill and crop remove?
The image is scaled until the requested rectangle is covered, then excess content at the edges is trimmed. Review the resulting framing carefully when a face, logo or caption lies near a border.
Will enlarging improve detail?
Increasing dimensions creates additional pixels through resampling. It does not recover detail that the source never contained. For small photographs, choose a sensible display size and inspect the output rather than relying on pixel count alone.
How large can the output be?
Width and height can each be up to 8192 pixels, but their product must stay within 40 million pixels. A very wide image may therefore need a smaller height than the individual field maximum.
Does Resize image upload files to another service?
Processing happens on the local server on this computer, using installed libraries, models and native tools. The browser-to-localhost connection is required, but no third-party conversion service is used. Initial dependency setup can require internet access; conversions use the installed local assets.
Can I continue after changing pages?
Pending selections stay available while navigating inside the app. Use My files to return to a tool draft or its results. Reloading or closing the tab discards pending browser selections; temporary job results expire after approximately 30 minutes. Download finished files before restarting the local app.
